On August 6, 2014, the Executive Yuan approved the "Green Energy Industry Leap Forward Plan," concentrating resources on promoting four main industries: solar photovoltaic, LED lighting photovoltaic, wind power, and energy ICT. Leveraging Taiwan's strong foundation and advantages in ICT, semiconductor, electromechanical, and materials industries, the plan adopts a service-oriented approach to expand downstream into system services and increase overseas system energy exports, rapidly integrating into the global division of labor and creating new momentum for the growth of the green energy industry. Green Energy, recognizing the market potential of the green energy industry, created the DOMI brand, dedicated to reducing energy consumption using existing technologies. Through a series of environmental education activities and tree-planting parties, Green Energy sows seeds of love and care for Taiwan in the hearts of children, truly ensuring the continuation of environmental conservation. Green Energy co-founder Lien Ting-kai stated that the primary reason for establishing such a company was for the sake of future generations. Having worked and lived in Beijing for many years, he hadn't really noticed the air pollution until he heard about a colleague's daughter's persistent cough. A doctor's diagnosis revealed lung damage from inhaling polluted air, preventing her from engaging in strenuous exercise for two years. It was then that he, a parent himself, realized the true impact of such an environment on health. After returning to Taiwan with his friends, they focused on doing something for the next generation. The documentary "Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above" was released, deeply impacting them. The film showed how their "home" had become scarred and covered in layers of pollution. This solidified the determination of these parents, all under 40, to create a business that would allow them to raise their children safely and environmentally friendly. Thus, they founded DOMI, whose name in Latin means "home," reflecting the shared and unique home of the Earth. DOMI is also Taiwan's first Class B corporation. DOMI Green Energy's operating model is simple: conducting energy consumption assessments for businesses and planning change initiatives. A fixed percentage of the profits from selling energy-saving LED light bulbs is allocated to energy conservation and carbon reduction efforts, including planting trees for clients. This "addition and subtraction" approach aims to address global warming. The "subtraction" refers to reducing mercury pollution and carbon emissions from lighting waste, while the "addition" involves planting trees and promoting environmental education, hoping to bring positive change to society and the environment. Additionally, regular "Green Tree Parties" are held, inviting clients and their children to participate in tree planting. This encourages hands-on interaction with the earth, contributing to the planet, and instilling environmental education in children from a young age, fostering a greater love and care for the land as they grow up. At DOMI Green Energy, there are no job titles, only the title of "Gardener." The company operates with a unique mindset, offering diverse internal training services and green corporate image programs. Through environmental education and social responsibility activities, DOMI fosters employee cohesion and a strong sense of company culture, instilling an understanding of the importance of environmental protection, encouraging proactive energy conservation and carbon reduction, saving energy costs, and attracting a new generation of talent who share the company's values. DOMI Green Energy is the first company in Taiwan to obtain B-type corporate certification and is an innovative social enterprise that addresses energy issues through a focus on environmental protection. B-type corporate certification, originating from the United States, is the most influential social enterprise certification worldwide. In obtaining certification, DOMI underwent a rigorous corporate impact assessment by B Labs, reviewing the company's positive performance in areas such as employees, suppliers, the community environment, and core values. This ensures that DOMI Green Energy can effectively enhance its market competitiveness and genuinely have a positive impact on society and the environment, practicing the philosophy of achieving self-interest through altruism. DOMI Green Energy has always aimed to integrate energy conservation and carbon reduction concepts into family education. Therefore, with guidance from the Green Little Giants Project, the team designed an energy-saving timer socket, paired with an environmental education picture book. Through storytelling, the product teaches children to identify energy-consuming appliances in their homes and connect these high-energy-consuming devices to the timer, helping families and schools save energy. To further attract children's attention, the design is cute and incorporates the story content, making the picture book and timer a unified whole. Children can easily operate it themselves, adding to the fun. Even the packaging is designed like a piggy bank, ensuring no waste. This picture book has been translated into six languages and received a great response from various countries at a global B-type enterprise forum. DOMI Green Energy believes that picture books are a form of soft teaching. While children may not understand the importance of energy conservation and carbon reduction when companies loudly promote it, picture books can increase parent-child communication and instill energy conservation concepts in children's minds. DOMI Green Energy illuminates environmental sustainability. Energy conservation and carbon reduction are an ongoing battle that must be implemented in every aspect of life and sustained consistently for the environment to be protected. Besides government-led energy conservation activities, the participation of non-governmental organizations is also crucial. To date, DOMI Green Energy has expanded beyond providing LED lighting projects to businesses, offering corporate social responsibility (CSR) solutions. Leveraging its energy-saving expertise and social service experience, DOMI Green Energy helps low-income families in Taiwan plan energy-saving solutions, replacing their lighting with LEDs to save on electricity bills. Simultaneously, to broaden its social impact and spread positive energy, DOMI Green Energy's approach, moving from change to action, creates ripple effects, gradually influencing businesses and even households. DOMI Green Energy breaks down conventional thinking about energy conservation and carbon reduction, using innovative business models and modern technological solutions to make the Earth smile – this is DOMI Green Energy's vision. To enhance the green competitiveness of enterprises, the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs commissioned the Quality, Environmental and Safety Department of the Plastics Research Institute to implement the "Small and Medium Enterprise Green Little Giant Guidance Program." This program aims to assist manufacturers in meeting international environmental protection requirements and promoting green product design and marketing.
